Make a skin in your browser: what the website does differently
The same skin maker in your browser: guided photos with a self-timer or from your phone, one layer or two, and downloads for Java and Bedrock. Nothing is uploaded.
- Everything runs in your browser, on Google's MediaPipe models loaded into the page; no photo is uploaded.
- The guided photos use the browser's camera, or you pick photos already taken (five, or a single front photo for a one-layer skin). There is no walk-around (browsers have no depth from motion) and no scan yourself: those are in the apps.
- No HD and no Pro here: HD skins (128 x 128) for Bedrock are in the Scan2Skin 3D app for iPhone and Android, with Pro.
- Two layers work here too: New skin asks "One layer or two?", and for two layers the guided photos are taken twice, first with only the jacket off and then with it on (see Two layers).
- The shutter has a self-timer, 10 seconds unless you change it (the stopwatch in the top bar): click, step back into the outline, and the count runs down over the picture. Click again to cancel.
- Skins download as files (the PNG and the .mcpack) instead of Save, Share and Open.
- My skins lives in the browser's storage for this site: a skin is kept there as soon as it is made, as on the phone, and every quick fix after that is kept too. It is on this device, in this browser, and goes with the site's data if you clear it; a private window forgets it when the window is closed.
- There is nothing to buy: a skin's downloads and the pixel editor are free.
