Getting started with Scan2Skin 3D
Scan2Skin 3D turns photos of a person into a pixel-block player skin. What the app asks the first time, and why.
Scan2Skin 3D makes a pixel-block skin from photos of a person: the face drawn as pixel art, the clothes, the hair, glasses and headphones read from the photos. It runs as an app for iPhone and Android phones, and on this website.
The first launch
The app opens once on a four-point summary and asks you to accept it before anything else:
- Scan only yourself or someone who agrees.
- Ask a parent before scanning a child.
- Everything stays on your device.
- This app is not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft.
Before the first scan
New skin opens the consent screen the first time. It says what the app analyzes and where, what is kept, and asks you to confirm that the person being scanned agrees:
- The app analyzes the shape and colors of the face and body from the camera and, on phones that have one, the depth sensor, to draw the skin. This happens only on this phone.
- The photos are deleted when the skin is made or when you stop. Face and body proportions are never saved or sent anywhere. Only the finished skin is kept.
- Only scan yourself or someone who agreed. For a child, a parent or guardian must agree first.
The date and the version of the text you accepted are kept on the phone, nowhere else. The app asks for the camera only then, after this notice, not when it opens.
Make a skin now, in your browser: five guided photos with the camera, or photos already taken. Nothing is uploaded. The Scan2Skin 3D app for iPhone and Android adds scan yourself, HD skins and Pro.
